Privacy Policy

Roles

This Policy uses two roles: the Operator — the entity running the Service on jimvite.com — and a Host, any signed-in individual who uses the Service to organize their own events. Each Host's contacts, events, and responses are stored separately and are visible only to that Host and the Operator's administrators (as needed to maintain the Service). Guests interact with the Service through invitation links and SMS replies; no guest account exists.

Data we collect

• Contact data entered by a Host: your name, email address, and/or phone number, plus any note the Host adds about you.
• Event responses: your RSVP status, party size, and any note you provide when replying.
• Delivery events from our email and SMS providers (bounces, delivery confirmations, complaints), linked back to the outbound message.
• Consent metadata for SMS channels: timestamp, IP address, and browser user-agent captured at the moment the Host attested to your consent. Retained for regulatory audit.
• Host account data: for people who sign in as a Host, their name, email, and short-lived login-link tokens used by the passwordless sign-in flow.
• Server logs containing standard request metadata (IP address, user-agent, path) for a short retention window.

How we use it

Contact and event data are used solely to deliver invitations and reminders on behalf of the Host who added you, correlate your RSVP replies, and display them to that Host. Your data is not visible to other Hosts. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell it.

Who we share it with

• The Host who invited you. They see your name, contact channels you provided, your RSVP status, party size, and any note you leave with the RSVP.
• AWS Simple Email Service (SES) — delivers invitation emails on the Service's behalf.
• AWS Simple Notification Service (SNS) / End User Messaging SMS — delivers invitation SMS and receives inbound replies.
• We do not share your data with any other third parties.

SMS specifics

SMS is opt-in: you receive a message only because a Host attested that you consented to receive SMS from them, and that attestation is logged. Reply STOP at any time to be added to the opt-out list — no further SMS will be sent to your number by that Host, and the opt-out is honored across all of that Host's events. Reply HELP to receive a short informational message with contact info.

SMS content is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Retention

Contact and event data are retained until the Host who owns the record deletes it, or until that Host's account is closed. Consent metadata for SMS is retained for at least two years to satisfy audit requirements, even after you opt out. Server logs are retained for a short operational window (typically under 30 days).

Your choices

• Ask the Host who invited you to update or delete your contact record. Each Host controls their own address book — if you don't know who the Host is, email support@jimvite.com with the phone number or email address that received the message and we will identify the Host and pass on your request.
• Reply STOP to opt out of SMS from a Host.
• Ignore or delete invitation emails; there is no tracking pixel.

Cookies

The Service sets a single session cookie for CSRF protection and, for signed-in Hosts, for maintaining their session. No analytics, ads, or tracking cookies are used.

Governing law

This Policy is governed by the laws of Minnesota, USA.
